China Says it Will Exempt 16 U.S. Products From Tariffs

The announcement was made on Wednesday. It is notable because it comes ahead of planned trade negotiations next month between the U.S. and China.

The list of exempted products is seen as a gesture of goodwill by Beijing ahead of the talks. The list includes cancer drugs, pesticides, and some animal feed. It does not, however, include economically important exports like soybeans and corn.

That could be significant in the wake of recent news that the Hong Kong exchange has offered to buy the London Stock Exchange for nearly $37 billion in cash and stock. A combination of the two exchanges would create a global trading behemoth.

At the top end of that range, Peloton would be worth about $8 billion. That’s roughly double a recent private valuation, according to PitchBook.
